Backflush Screen Changer

A Backflush Screen Changer is a sophisticated, automatic polymer filtration system—typically a double-piston design with four screen cavities—used in extrusion and recycling lines to ensure continuous production without stopping. When pressure builds due to contamination in an active screen, the system automatically diverts a small amount of clean polymer melt backwards through the blocked screen to purge the impurities, thus self-cleaning the screen and greatly extending its life, often allowing the screen pack to be cleaned 20 to 25 times or more before manual replacement is required, all while maintaining 75% to 95% of the total filter area online.
