Side Feeder Extruder

The Side Feeder Extruder, a crucial auxiliary component typically used with a Twin Screw Extruder (TSE), is a specialized device designed to accurately and continuously introduce low bulk density materials, heat-sensitive additives like pigments or stabilizing agents, or high-percentage fillers such as fiberglass, calcium carbonate, and talc, directly into a downstream processing section of the main extruder barrel. Equipped with its own pair of twin-screws, a hopper, and a separate drive, this component forces material into the melt stream, thus bypassing the main feed zone, preventing screw slippage, reducing wear on the initial screw elements, and significantly increasing overall throughput and compounding efficiency, especially when handling voluminous or fine powders that would otherwise limit the extruder's intake.
